He has an empathy with wood, crafting pieces, whether furniture or bowls which utilise the natural beauty of the species he’s working with.  Bob sources his own wood – all Scottish hardwoods.  In fact he ‘saves’ the trees, usually felled by storms or as a result of good forest management, and gives them new life in pieces which will last a few more hundred years and give joy in a new way to their owner and friends.

Bob ‘planks’ the wood at source transporting back to Crail where he nurtures the wood through a natural air and kiln drying process which takes a number of years until the wood is  ‘just right’ to begin his craftsmanship.
